The Brazilian media continues to report Nottingham Forest’s interest in manager Jorge Sampaoli.
This time, it’s UOL who features a story about the Tricky Trees having ‘made contact’ to get the Argentine coach signed.
The website claims that Nottingham Forest have been working to find a new manager ‘for weeks’. As even though there’s a ‘movement’ to keep Steve Cooper on the job until the end of the season, he’s actually ‘close to getting sacked’, so there’s the urge for a substitute soon.
The Reds’ interest in Sampaoli had already been reported by Goal Brasil on Monday. They were the first claiming the Premier League side had ‘initiated contact’ to bring the manager to the City Ground.
As we previously said, the reason the Brazilian media is so concerned about Sampaoli’s future is because Flamengo are also interested in him. They’re sacking manager Vitor Pereira this week and want the former Sevilla boss to replace him.
So it seems very possible that the Argentine coach will have those two options on the table to choose from, each one with its own aspirations, with Nottingham Forest finishing the season and Flamengo just getting started.
