As reported by the Italian media today, Napoli are close to signing Leander Dendoncker, ready to take him from Aston Villa on loan with a right of redemption.
By making this move, the Serie A side are then expected to leave the chase for Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala, for whom they’d been negotiating for a while.
As Area Napoli talks about Dendoncker’s arrival, they have a little comment to make about the negotiation with the Tricky Trees.
The outlet says the Serie A side now seems to ‘have finally let go’ of Mangala, even though the player had ‘promised himself’ to the club.
The reason was the ‘hesitations’ from Nottingham Forest, who were not sure about letting the player go.
The Italian media had indeed been claiming that the Reds were being tough in the negotiations, despite Mangala’s wish to complete the transfer.
Area Napoli now claims that stance convinced Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to ‘turn to another profile’, and that seems to be the end of this little saga.
