Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of a new goalkeeper in the winter market is no secret, as they ended up completing the signing of Matz Sels from Strasbourg on deadline day.
Now, according to fresh reports from the Netherlands, the Tricky Trees had another name on their list. That’s Marco Bizot’s.
Dutch outlet Voetbal International writes that Nottingham Forest made an enquiry about his signing from Stade Brestois, and were told that the 32-year-old was not for sale ‘at any price’.
The Reds then went for their other targets, and that’s when they agreed the arrival of Sels from Strasbourg.
Bizot has 19 appearances for Brest this season, with 17 goals conceded and eight clean sheets, and it’s clear why the club wouldn’t just let him go on deadline day in the middle of the season.
He’s also well protected by the French side with a contract until 2026, and is valued by Transfermarkt at €7m.
In the end, Nottingham Forest ended up paying Strasbourg €8m for Sels. He agreed to a contract with the Tricky Trees which runs until 2027.
