Nottingham Forest target Santiago Gimenez is “working towards a transfer” this summer and Feyenoord are more than ready for his departure.
That’s according to journalist Martijn Krabbendam, with his comments relayed by FR 12, who says the Mexican striker is very much heading towards a departure.
Gimenez has been heavily linked with a move away from Feyenoord over the last two years after bagging 51 goals and 12 assists in 87 appearances for the Dutch club.
Some of the biggest clubs in Europe have been credited with an interest but never stepped up on that front, either moving for other targets or simply not going beyond showing an interest.
That’s led to Nottingham Forest making an ambitious move for him, with a report today indicating that they are making an ambitious bid for him, and a bid was expected soon.
Such a move would be a surprising one for Gimenez given the other clubs Gimenez has been linked with in the past and his apparent desire to join a side further up the chain, perhaps even in Europe.
Krabbendam doesn’t provide any positive news for Nottingham Forest but does say the striker is working on a move this summer.
“I think he is working towards a transfer,” he said.
“This was again the Gimenez that we know from his good period. Feyenoord have prepared for his departure with Ayase Ueda and have now also brought in Julián Carranza. Three strikers is in principle too many Feyenoord were already considering a departure and perhaps so was he.
“You also notice that in the players, that they accelerate and hope that a new club will come along, and he can deliver what he showed against PSV every week. That is of course no problem for Feyenoord.”
