Torino are pushing hard to get manager Ivan Juric signed to a new deal to ward off interest from Nottingham Forest.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who say the Torino boss is being eyed by Forest, as well as Premier League rivals Southampton.
The newspaper explains that Juric’s renewal is a priority for the Serie A club as his current deal is set to expire in 2024.
They are aware of growing interest in his signature and ‘the sirens’ from the Premier League have already started to sound, with Nottingham Forest and Southampton at the front of the queue.
They’ve both been struggling in the Premier League this season, with Southampton already deciding to sack Ralph Hassenhuttl and bring in Nathan Jones as his replacement last month.
A report not long after that, though, made it clear that Juric had been on their list of targets, and it seems that remains the case.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, handed Steve Cooper a new contract in October as a sign of faith in the man who got them promoted from the Championship.
However, he remains a man in danger of losing his job given their perilous position in the table and Tuttosport say Juric could be a name in the frame to replace him.
That’s something Torino want to make as difficult as possible and according to Tuttosport the plan is to add another year to his deal and take his salary above €2m, which would be a 15% increase.
They also plan to offer him the chance to be the ‘nerve centre’ of the project at the club, particularly when it comes to transfers, something they know he wants.
The hope is that those two things can convince him to sign and extend his stay at the club, keeping him out of the clutches of Nottingham Forest and Southampton in the process.
