Nottingham Forest are ‘serious’ about a move for Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskyi after securing his teammate Remo Freuler.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover Nottingham Forest’s move for the left-back today.
According to the website, Nottingham Forest have put a €15m valuation on the defender and have ‘already made’ that bid to lure him from the Italian side.
That’s the figure they paid to sign the player from Genk but Atalanta are not biting and asking for a figure ‘closer to €20m’ so they can make a profit on their books.
They’re aware that Nottingham Forest are not the only side eyeing Malinovskyi and that means they can push up his price tag if they need to.
There is also a case of Malinovskyi being one of the remaining stars in the squad and a player Giampaolo Gasperini can use in certain problem areas, something that makes him ‘even more valuable’ in a summer that’s seen several key players depart.
There has been a decision by Atalanta this year, though, with a determination to focus on youngsters and freshen up the squad.
That means nobody is up untransferable and Malinovskyi ‘could indeed be the next to go’ and potentially not the last either.
That opens the door for Nottingham Forest to get their man, although they will need to put more on the table to do so.
