Nottingham Forest midfielder Onel Mangala could leave the club permanently after Euro 2024 and provide Nuno Espirito Santo with the funds to sign Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis.
DH Net cover the Belgian midfielder today and how Lyon plan to make his loan deal permanent at some point in the coming weeks.
They explain that while the loan deal, which reportedly cost the French side €11m and includes a €15m purchase clause as well, was not a success, Lyon would still like to turn the 26-year-old into a permanent signing.
That’s largely based on the fact they’ve already paid a sum for him and see him as an investment for the future, in a sporting and financial sense.
Either way, they want to make his loan deal permanent and that means Nottingham Forest will be provided with some much-needed funds to help balance the books and potentially strengthen their squad.
The big issue is that they will have to wait as Belgium don’t intend to let players slip away during EURO 2024, or even the planning for it, to sort out transfer business.
That could suit Lyon as a good tournament in Germany could help them move Mangala on quickly, with Juventus and Napoli potential suitors.
Nottingham Forest are set to get their money anyway, which could help them to push forward with a deal for Benfica’s Florentino Luis.
A report earlier this week indicated that Nottingham Forest had joined the developing race for the midfielder and Mangala’s exit could now provide them with the funds to get that done.
