Earlier today, we covered an interview which Nottingham Forest midfielder Gustavo Scarpa gave to the Brazilian media.
There, he claimed that despite being out of the starting team recently, he’s happy in England, and will continue fighting hard to find a place at the Reds, with no plans to return to his home country anytime soon.
But it turns out there’s actually an issue which may be keeping Scarpa’s mind in Brazil a little.
As reported by ESPN Brasil, the Nottingham Forest player lost R$6.3m (£1m) when trying to invest in cryptocurrency and is now trying to get his money back.
According to the story, Scarpa and his former teammate Mayke are taking legal action against three different companies, as they had been promising the players a profit of between 3.5% and 5% a month, and besides not fulfilling that, they never even returned the initial investment.
The most curious part of this story is that one of the companies, which is broker WLJC, has Scarpa’s former teammate William Bigode as owner. According to ESPN, the striker didn’t want to comment on the subject.
TV Globo’s Fantástico, probably the most important weekly news show in Brazil, is publishing a big story about it all on Sunday. It’s possible they’ll have some quotes from the Nottingham Forest player by then.
