Remo Freuler spent over six years at Atalanta before leaving them for Nottingham Forest last summer.
The 31-year-old’s contract lasts until 2025 but he could be in line to leave the Tricky Trees for a ‘sensational return’ to the Serie A side.
That’s according to Tutto Atalanta, who say the Italian club have ‘all eyes’ on the Nottingham Forest player.
It’s said a potential deal for the midfielder would depend on Teun Koopmeiners and Marten de Roon moving elsewhere this summer. The latter two have been linked to Napoli and AC Milan respectively.
For now, the report states the Switzerland international is back on their transfer agenda as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side see him as an ‘ideal solution’.
Tutto Atalanta further add Freuler could be a ‘safe and absolutely reliable’ option for the Serie A side to bolster their midfield, as long as both Koopmeiners and De Roon are sold.
Freuler was a regular for Steve Cooper’s side, making 33 appearances last season. There’s no mention if Nottingham Forest are in favour of his exit, if Atalanta try to sign him in the coming weeks.
