In August 2023, before joining Nottingham Forest, Murillo wasn’t exactly a big star in Brazil.
The defender had been showing some potential at Corinthians, but was far from being one of the best players in the country.
It turns out that his move to Nottingham Forest brought him to a new level, and as reported by UOL he could now get his first call up for the national team.
The outlet reports that while on tour in Europe, Brazil’s new manager Dorival Junior watched 25 players live.
From that list, only five were never called up by the national team before, and Murillo is one of them. He’s running for a place in central defence against the likes of Marquinhos, Beraldo, Diego Carlos, Thiago Silva, Gabriel Magalhães and Gabriel Paulista.
The Nottingham Forest player has been getting a lot of praise from the Brazilian media in the past few months, with stories often highlighting his quick adaptation to the Premier League. So an international debut would be no surprise at this time.
Dorival Junior is making his first call up on Friday, for the friendlies against England and Spain in March.
