Over the past days, SportWitness have kept a close eye on the mystery surrounding Nottingham Forest’s Lorenzo Lucca.
The striker scored on his debut and also played in the Europa League. Oddly, he was excluded from the squad for matches against Brighton and Manchester City.
There was no reason offered for this and that prompted concern and confusion in Italy, especially amidst claims about issues with his attitude at Napoli. At one point, it seemed like Vitor Pereira had fallen out with the striker already.
It emerged later that the striker picked up an ankle injury – possibly in the clash against Fenerbahce.
More updates are emerging, and it doesn’t look too bad for Nottingham Forest.
Lucca now back in Italy
Tuttomercatoweb report and confirm the 25-year-old’s ankle injury. They go on to state that the striker will undergo treatment back in Italy and has already flown back to his home country.
He is currently in Rome, waiting to be diagnosed and he will undergo a medical consultation soon.
The ankle injury has been described as ‘minor’, although the details aren’t fully known yet.
Lucca is expected to be back in action quickly. There’s no timeframe, and should be clearer when the test results are back.
Our take on Lucca’s Nottingham Forest return
Considering where Pereira’s side are now, they need as much help as possible to stay up.
Lucca is no stranger to battling in the lower reaches of the table. He would be keen to prove himself in England especially considering how the past few months have been. He scored on his debut after the frustrating spell in Naples and there couldn’t be a better time than now for him to make a mark.
Nottingham Forest need crucial goals and Lucca is someone who thrives on service. Considering his skillset, it won’t be a surprise if the Italian ends being pretty important in the last few weeks of the season.
