Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Levadiakos striker Fotis Ioannidis, report Greek website Sdna.

The Championship club have started their transfer operation ahead of the next campaign after failing to get promotion to the Premier League. Sabri Lamouchi’s side missed out on a playoff spot on the final day of the season.

It’s reported Forest have identified Ioannidis as a target, following recent reports Panathinaikos were leading the race for the player.

Panathinaikos were said to be close to reaching an agreement with Levadiakos but Sdna claim Nottingham Forest are now in pole position.

The player’s former coach Jose Anigo, who’s currently the head of international recruitment at Nottingham Forest, is likely to be key in getting a deal done.

Nottingham Forest are also offering better terms for the Greek striker, according to the claims, and a decision over his future will be made in the coming days.

Ioannidis made 20 appearances for Levadiakos this season and scored five goals. His contract with the Greek second division club will expire at the end of June 2021.
