As we were approaching the World Cup, Nottingham Forest were in a bad place, and there was growing speculation that Steve Cooper could be fired.
The Tricky Trees had spent a lot of money in the summer on a very large amount of players, and there were expectations that results would follow.
That wasn’t the case, and rumours that Nottingham Forest could go for Ivan Juric circulated, as the Croatian manager was doing wonders over at Torino.
In the end, the club decided to show their trust in Cooper, and it has worked out, with results gradually improving and Forest now 13th in the league, six points above the relegation zone.
THey’re not out of the woods yet, but Firenze Viola explain on Thursday that Nottingham Forest did actually go after Juric, stating that towards the end of autumn, the club offered the manager ‘a mountain of money’.
Despite this, and the reported advances of Southampton and Wolfsburg, he said no, because he ‘wants to stay in Serie A’.
He has never done this well before, and Torino are backing him, pipping Marseille to Ivan Ilic in January.
Not only that, but the Italian club are now wanting to ‘implement a contract renewal’ that already ready and only needs to be signed.
