As Nottingham Forest continue to dedicate huge attention to Brazilian football, it seems they have a new target in the country.
According to IG Esporte, the Reds made an approach for the signing of São Paulo midfielder Jhegson Mendez.
It’s claimed that Nottingham Forest have ‘shown interest’ in the Ecuadorian player and tried to get more information on him in a first approach, but with no bids placed yet.
Mendez has barely arrived at São Paulo, with the Tricolor having signed him on a free move from Los Angeles FC in January.
He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €2.5m, and there’s no information on how much the club would demand for his sale this summer.
In the past few days, we’ve seen reports from Brazil claiming Nottingham Forest are engaged in several pursuits in the country.
It was claimed they were just turned down by Botafogo star Matheus Nascimento, and led them to turn their attentions to Santos youngster Deivid Washington.
Now it seems a striker isn’t the only position they’re looking for, and added Mendez to that list.
