Nottingham Forest are the current favourites to sign free agent André Ayew following his departure from Al-Sadd SC.
The Ghanian forward was released at the end of January after an 18 month spell with the Qatari club following a free transfer from Swansea in July 2021.
He was quickly linked with a return to the Premier League on deadline day, with several reports linking him to Everton.
It appears it is not the Toffees but Nottingham Forest who are making their move for him, though, with Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos reporting that they are the ‘favourites’ for his signature.
That would make some sense given they have recently lost Taiwo Awoniyi to injury, although they did sign Chris Wood on loan from Newcastle in an attempt to cover the gap in their forward line, and Ayew has a relationship with manager Steve Cooper.
He made 94 appearances under the Nottingham Forest coach during their time at Swansea, scoring 35 goals and registering 12 assists in that time.
He is, therefore, a player that Cooper knows well and would be happy to work with again given the need to bolster their forward line.
For those wondering why a Greek journalist would have the jump on this potential move, it is worth remembering that Nottingham Forest are owned by Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Olympiakos.
