Nottingham Forest ‘have not given up’ on signing Real Betis defender Alex Moreno, despite the player insisting publicly he will be staying in Spain.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the defender has ‘totally convinced’ Nottingham Forest, hence their insistence.

They report that the Tricky Trees have Moreno as their first choice and gradually upper their offer from €5m to €10.5m plus another €4.5m in bonuses.

That put them at the €15m Betis were looking for. They were also willing to triple the player’s salary.

Moreno considered the offer but elected to stay where he is, penning an open letter to Betis fans insisting he would not be moving.

Nottingham Forest, though, ‘have not given up’ on a potential deal and despite looking at alternatives are still trying to make a move happen.

They have told Moreno’s agent, Pini Zahavi, that they are considering reaching Betis’ asking price and ‘further improving’ their offer to the player to try and ‘change his mind’.

Whether they actually do so remains to be seen but it seems despite the player’s insistence he’s not interested, Forest aren’t finished trying to lure him just yet.
