Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign AS Roma’s Jan Ziolkowski and a deal is now gathering pace.
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered Vitor Pereira’s side making an initial bid for the defender. This didn’t prove enough but the two clubs were set for discussions to iron out the €5m gap.
Ziolkowski did well whenever called upon by Gian Piero Gasperini during the 2025/26 campaign. While his game time dried up, he showed enough to suggest that he can play at the highest level.
Now, Nottingham Forest are closing in on the deal.
All parties putting in effort
Gazzetta dello Sport report discussions between the two clubs are progressing. As a result, the defender is ‘closer’ to joining Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal.
This is in line with what has been covered earlier, as the clubs were set to meet for a deal.
SiamoLaRoma have more information. They also appear confident the move can be done soon, with Nottingham Forest willing to reach €20m.
This will satisfy Roma, who will secure a major capital gain. They signed Ziolkowski for only €6m in 2025 and this will go a long way in sorting out their troubles with FFP.
In the meantime, the 20-year-old’s entourage will soon meet Nottingham Forest. Personal terms will be discussed, so that all agreements are in place as soon as possible.
Decent fee for high potential player
Since Ziolkowski is still quite young, the deal does pose obvious risks. But he is also a Poland international and has European experience already.
Adapting to Gasperini’s methods isn’t easy but he did it quite well. That speaks volumes for his approach and work ethic, which will put him in a good position when he first plays in England.
