Nottingham Forest youngster Brandon Aguilera has revealed loan club Estoril Praia have an option to make his move a permanent one if they wish to do at the end of the season.
Aguilera was one of the numerous signings to arrive at Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window, joining in a €950,000 deal from Costa Rican side LD Alajuelense.
He did not immediately make the move to England, though, instead going out on loan to Guanacasteca to continue playing regularly ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
He featured in all three of his country’s games at the tournament, playing against Spain, Japan and Germany as they failed to make it out of the group stages.
Once the tournament was done his future came into question again, with his loan deal at Guanacasteca coming to an end in January.
Rather than moving to Nottingham Forest, though, he was sent to Portugal with Estoril to continue his development. That deal is only until the end of the season but according to Aguilera, it includes a purchase option for the Portuguese side.
“It is something that one asks oneself,” he told ESPN when asked if he could have contributed to Steve Cooper’s side this season.
“One question, one comes to this league, it is competitive here, I think that reaching the Premier from Costa Rica is a huge leap, I feel cold here, I feel very different training sessions, you feel the difference in rhythm.
“Arriving in England would have been a step that I don’t know if I could have done, but I feel very happy here, they have a purchase option, here is a great club, they have sold great players to Benfica, Porto.
“Those are the steps I’d like to take. Here I can develop quite well, what I focus on is that, enjoying the day to day.”
