Nottingham Forest midfielder Gustavo Scarpa has insisted he is not worried about his recent change in circumstances at the club, believing it is normal for him to be out of the side.
Scarpa joined Nottingham Forest on a free transfer from Palmeiras at the beginning of January and was immediately thrown into the first team by manager Steve Cooper, featuring against Southampton, Leicester and Bournemouth.
He was left on the bench for the 1-0 win over Leeds at the beginning of February before a 56 minute appearance against Fulham six days later.
Since then he’s found himself sat on the bench for games against Manchester City and West Ham, but was left out of the squad completely for Nottingham Forest’s draw with Everton at the weekend.
That was naturally a disappointment for the Brazilian but likely a response to his lack of impact so far, with the midfielder yet to register a goal or assist in his eight games in all competitions.
“I was surprised because everything happened so fast, starting to play, having opportunities,” he told UOL.
“Now I’m having a little less, but I think it’s normal, everyone goes through it, I’ve been through it myself a few times in Brazil.
“The choice to come here was very much the fulfilment of a dream. And I’m a person who, you can tell even by my hobbies I have, I insist until I succeed.
“I don’t want to just get here, stay six months, say ‘I’ve had my experience and I’m going back to Brazil’, because that would be very comfortable. But what I seek nowadays is not comfort, in fact it never was.
“The idea is to conquer my space, in a very effective way. Playing excellent football, having a good run, scoring goals, giving assists. Their affection, their admiration, will be a consequence of my football shown on the field. It’s a matter of time but, but it depends a lot on my dedication.”
