Nottingham Forest have no intention of giving up on signing Givairo Read, after Feyenoord rejected multiple bids.
On July 9th, Sport Witness covered claims from the Dutch press Feyenoord had turned down a bid from the Reds.
Last week, we relayed news that Nottingham Forest’s initial bid was €17.5m and returned with an improved bid. There was no mention of their details or about the Eredivisie side’s response.
Details of Nottingham Forest’s offers
Voetbal International now claim the Premier League side’s second offer was €20m, again rejected by Feyenoord.
That hasn’t put off Nottingham Forest, who continue to pursue the 20-year-old right-back.
Oliver Glasner’s side have a ‘substantial contract’ until 2031 ready for Givairo Read. He is likely to reach an agreement for personal terms as the Netherlands U21 international is keen on moving to the City Ground.
The two clubs have to agree terms to conclude the operation this summer.
New offer from Nottingham Forest
VI report the English club submitted a third proposal of around €23m on Sunday.
Feyenoord have already rejected two bids and VI claims they ‘don’t seem inclined to let the third time be the charm’.
In short, the new offer isn’t convincing, and the Dutch club are demanding a ‘significantly higher amount’. The magazine doesn’t mention their request, while earlier claims stated a €25m fee is enough to convince Feyenoord.
Several clubs have shown interest in Givairo Read, but Oliver Glasner’s side are the only one to table offers.
That’s according to Feyenoord Transfermarkt, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state the player is ‘expected to make a switch to Nottingham Forest’.
There’s no mention of the third bid, while Feyenoord Transfermarkt claims Nottingham Forest are ‘closing in’ on the Dutchman’s signing. This shows there’s optimism the parties can reach total agreement.
