Nottingham Forest ‘know’ that Feyenoord want more money than they are currently offering for Santiago Gimenez but are continuing to bid to try and encourage negotiations.
That’s according to Voetbal International, who say Nottingham Forest’s latest bid of €26m plus €4m in bonuses is better but not quite what Feyenoord had been aiming for.
The newspaper explains that Nottingham Forest have already seen a €25m bid rejected on Monday by Feyenoord’s general and technical director Dennis te Kloese.
They’ve returned with a bid that could reach €30m but know that Feyenoord were thinking of more.
It’s been submitted as an attempt to ‘loosen’ the Dutch side and open up negotiations for the Mexican striker. They hope that Feyenoord at least want to talk and show room for negotiation.
They’re aware Feyenoord have a higher amount in mind and that they are ‘dependent’ on Gimenez. They’re also aware that the striker isn’t fully convinced on a move to Nottingham Forest.
It seems that rejected bids can’t deter them, though, and they’re trying to initiate some open talks for the deal.
