Nottingham Forest have joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitiké in the winter market, according to Le10 Sport.

The striker hasn’t made an appearance for the Ligue 1 side since coming off the bench against FC Lorient in August.

PSG are keen to get rid of him, but haven’t managed to receive a convincing enough offer. They are aiming for a sale or loan with a mandatory purchase option, but Wolves and Nottingham Forest may hope for better conditions in the final days.

Behind the scenes there’s a ‘final three-way battle’ involving Eintracht Frankfurt, Forest and Wolves.

Eintracht Frankfurt have been in the picture for weeks and discussions are ongoing with PSG.

It’s said England is the destination that ‘appeals’ the 21-year-old, where Gary O’Neil’s side are trying to convince both the player and PSG.

The report explains that the ‘next few hours will be decisive’, also because Nottingham Forest have entered the scene. There’s been a ‘big press’ from the Tricky Trees to sign the Frenchman.

Ekitiké’s situation has been an absolute mess this month, and it feels like he and PSG have been holding out for a perfect move which likely doesn’t exist.
