Earlier on Thursday, we covered the Brazilian media breaking the news of Nottingham Forest’s interest in São Paulo midfielder Jhegson Mendez.
It was claimed the Reds had ‘shown interest’ in the player and made contact to get more information on a potential move.
This story was backed up by André Hernan, who claimed São Paulo are not interested in negotiating the player’s exit. Then Daniel Perrone came up with more interesting news on his blog.
The journalist recalls that not long ago, Nottingham Forest had also been interested in Pablo Maia, who plays for the same club as Mendez.
He points out that for São Paulo, there’s ‘no debate’ about which of the two should stay at the club, as they would rather hold Maia and let Mendez move to England.
It’s even claimed that the Ecuadorian’s exit could end up being a ‘solution’ for the Tricolor to keep Maia in their squad.
So if Nottingham Forest were having trouble finding a deal for Maia, it now seems they could end up having a much easier task if going for Mendez.
