The Dutch media have now addressed rumours that Nottingham Forest have turned their attention to Ajax’s Brian Brobbey.
Seemingly frustrated in their serious efforts to sign Santiago Gimenez, which look like they involved a lot of genuine effort from the Premier League club, Forest could move to other targets.
Voetbal International report the club ‘have asked’ about the Ajax player. The gist is that Brobbey has been asked if he’d be keen on a late move to the Premier League this week, and Voetbal International believe it’s ‘very questionable’ whether he would be.
That may be yet another Dutch dig at Forest, but we’re all used to them by now so can let it slide.
Ajax themselves, however, may be more keen. It’s pointed out the Amsterdam club could do with a decent sale this week, and Brobbey moving to Nottingham Forest would represent that.
The Eredivisie side already have a replacement ready and waiting. Burnley’s Wout Weghorst is waiting to sign for Ajax, and therefore Brobbey going would present the perfect scenario to go through with that deal.
Voebtal International don’t say they’ve got the Brobbey information from elsewhere, but it feels a little like that, and an excuse to outline what Ajax’s stance would be on it.
That stance is pretty much: He’s available for the right price.
