In the past few weeks, while Flamengo were in negotiations to sign Angelo from Santos, the Brazilian media many times recalled the interest from Nottingham Forest.
It had been claimed that in January, the Reds made an attempt to sign the player on a loan with a buying option, and that was turned down by his club.
Flamengo were now negotiating to sign the player for less money, but giving Santos a bigger percentage of a future transfer, and that’s why talks were advancing.
But it turns out that Angelo turned down the move at the weekend, and that may raise new hopes for Nottingham Forest.
According to Globo Esporte, the player had a couple of reasons to reject the transfer, and the main of them would be the delay of his future move to Europe.
By joining Flamengo, it’d be highly unlikely that he’d move again in the summer.
Angelo also didn’t want to be seen as a traitor at Santos by moving to another Brazilian club. That’s why a move to a European side is seen as more reasonable.
So in case Nottingham Forest are still interested, it seems the chance will be on the table.
Their offer was for a loan included an obligatory buying option in case of avoiding relegation, and they seem on the way to achieving that.
