Leeds United have joined the battle with Nottingham Forest to sign RC Strasbourg’s Dilane Bakwa this summer.
On August 7th, L’Equipe reported the Ligue 1 club have rejected Nottingham Forest’s offer of €24m plus €4m bonuses.
A week later, the same newspaper reported the Reds made another bid of €31m including bonuses. Strasbourg again rejected it as they want €35m in fixed fee for the forward.
On Saturday, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported Leeds are leading the race, after showing willingness to pay €35m for Bakwa. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report the latest on Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and the Whites.
Nottingham Forest haven’t given up and are said to be close to securing the 22-year-old’s services.
Leeds have already made advances with the French club to acquire the player’s signature. The journalist reports Nottingham Forest are ‘fighting to close the gap’ on Daniel Farke’s side.
He says ‘things will change in the coming hours’, without specifying whether this will be in favour of Nottingham Forest or Leeds.
The Frenchman managed six goals and nine assists from 31 games last season.
