Nice things don’t last in the modern world, unfortunately, and it seems that was the case for Nottingham Forest vs Real Betis.
Diario de Sevilla cover the situation today and how some Betis fans were left in fear thank to the actions of sections of the 3,500 travelling Nottingham Forest fans last night.
Throughout yesterday we covered reports on how the Nottingham Forest fans were all making a very positive impression in Seville. There had been no reported incidents and most appeared to be enjoying themselves, either sightseeing, drinking in the sun or taking the mick out of Derby County.
That all seems to have changed once they got into the stadium, though, at least if Betis fans are to be believed.
Diario de Sevilla report that Forest fans ‘caused a lot of trouble’ in their part of the stadium, raising complaints from Betis fans who had their seats nearby.
While there was nothing overly serious, the newspaper reports that Nottingham Forest fans threw drinks, spat and kicked Betis fans in front of them during goal celebrations. This was possible because only netting separated the two groups of supporters.
“My brother couldn’t go to work because of the kick to the back of the head he received during the goal celebration,” one Betis fan explained.
“We’re done for there. We’re right in the front row. We were scared at times. They spit on us, threw drinks at us, kicked us during the goal celebration… And there were minors right next to us. The security guards aren’t doing anything.”
