Nottingham Forest‘s David Carmo has been out on loan since joining the Premier League side from FC Porto in August 2024.
The Reds immediately sent him on loan to Olympiacos, and the centre-back was a regular in Greece.
He played 34 matches and won the UEFA Conference League under José Luis Mendilibar.
Last summer, the 26-year-old returned to Nottingham Forest but couldn’t find a place at the City Ground.
Sevilla reportedly wanted to sign him on loan, but the defender ended up at Real Oviedo. He played 22 matches for the Spanish club who have dropped out of La Liga.
The Portugal-born Angola international will return to Nottingham Forest where he has no future.

He is on his way to starting his third spell with Olympiacos, this time on a permanent move.
That’s according to Sportime, who state David Carmo is ‘getting closer’ to joining the Greek club. He first joined them on loan in January 2024, when he was at FC Porto.
The defender’s return to Piraeus is the final stretch and Nottingham Forest are advancing negotiations for a fee between £5-7m [€5.7-8m]. The overall fee could exceed €8m with bonuses.
The fee puts him in their top five record purchases, which shows their willingness to secure Carmo’s services. José Luis Mendilibar personally requested the transfer.
Another Greek website, Athletiko, gives an insight into how the Nottingham Forest man opened the door again for Olympiacos. His name was never off their target list even when he was at Real Oviedo.
Carmo has made a name for himself in Greece from his previous two spells, and this has opened the door to Olympiacos.
After Real Oviedo’s relegation, the player sent a message to the Greek champions, who then informed Mendilibar. The manager quickly gave the green light, and his side have made progress in negotiations.
Nottingham Forest owner connection
Evangelos Marinakis owns both the English club and Olympiacos. This connection would have made it easy for the two clubs during negotiations.
However, the two reports make no mention of Marinakis’ directly involvement in this deal.
