On Monday, Ciro Venerato made it clear that Napoli’s Lorenzo Lucca isn’t so against a move to Nottingham Forest.
The two clubs had reached an agreement over the terms of a transfer but there were doubts about the player’s intentions. Venerato’s claims were also mirrored by Tuttomercatoweb, who were sure that the Italian will soon join the Tricky Trees.
Beyond the two sources, there is a lack of information about Lucca’s stance about his future.
The uncertainty should clear up soon and Naples newspaper Il Mattino assesses the 25-year-old’s situation.
They make it clear that Lucca’s entourage will have a meeting with Nottingham Forest executives ‘in the next few hours’. This will dictate the transfer, amidst the belief that there has been a real back and forth on the player’s end about a switch to the City Ground.
So far, he has rejected clubs outside of Italy, turning down Al-Hilal, even if it could him a big pay rise. He had previously been keen on staying in Italy but seems to be giving some thought to Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest transfer meeting is crucial
That is why the meeting between the two parties can help the Azzurri forward make a decision.
Pisa have also been credited with some interest in the giant striker. Sky Italia – via AreaNapoli, reported yesterday that they want to compete with Sean Dyche’s side for Lucca.
A move back to Pisa would represent a romantic reunion for the Napoli player. He first broke through at the Tuscany side, scoring six times in 35 games. However, they’re currently in the Serie A relegation zone, second to bottom and four points from safety.
Nottingham Forest are better positioned in their battle against the drop, and relegation to the Championship isn’t quite the abyss that Serie B can be.
Things should become clearer soon enough, with Lucca having struggled for game time under Antonio Conte this season.
