Nottingham Forest have not given up on keeping Renan Lodi at the club, according to claims from Brazil.
Website Premier League Brasil today feature an exclusive story claiming the Tricky Trees do not rule out a move to keep the fullback for longer.
It’s claimed that Nottingham Forest still ‘keep contact’ with the player and ‘discuss a stay’ for him there.
There’s no big confidence about this new deal, as the chances of it not happening are still ‘big’, but the Reds ‘evaluate’ the possibility.
Lodi spent last season at Nottingham Forest, loaned out by Atletico Madrid. In his year in England, he made 32 appearances for the Reds.
It turns out that even though the La Liga side have no intention of keeping him, they don’t want to loan him out again either. So for the Tricky Trees to get him signed, they’d need to make an offer for a permanent deal.
Lodi has a contract with Atletico Madrid until 2026. In most cases, that would sound like the Spanish club have him well protected. Now since they have no plans for him there, that could be a good chance for Nottingham Forest to convince them of getting rid of his salary.
