Nottingham Forest were one of the clubs who failed to sign Real Betis’ Guido Rodríguez last summer.

The midfielder has less than six months left on his deal and the La Liga side have made an offer to extend his contract.

ABC Sevilla take a look at the 29-year-old’s contract situation and also mention Nottingham Forest’s approach in 2023.

The Argentina international has been sidelined with an injury and isn’t expected to return until March. The Andalusian club still want to renew his contract and are waiting for him to respond to their proposal.

Rodríguez’s status as a World Cup winner opens doors to many leagues, but he’s not as sought-after as he was a few years ago. He’s got an opportunity to join Atlético for free next summer, a year after Manuel Pellegrini’s side rejected offers from both Nottingham Forest and Lyon.

With regards to the Tricky Trees and Lyon, it’s said their proposals were too low, and ABC Sevilla claim both clubs are below Real Betis’ level, sporting wise.

To put in perspective, Real Betis dropped out of the Europa League to the UEFA Conference League this season, and are currently seventh in the table.

The South American will turn 30 years of age in April and is looking for the last big deal of his playing career, at a club where he can continue to grow.
