Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel’s negotiations with Nottingham Forest and West Ham have left Brazilian club Corinthians in shock and caused chaos behind the scenes.
That’s according to GE, who say the goalkeeper is set to depart in the near future and the whole affair has proved to be a messy one.
Reports this week and particularly on Friday have Nottingham Forest and West Ham competing for the Brazilian goalkeeper, with the latest today indicating that he could be on the way to the former.
The move has pretty much come out of nowhere, with Nottingham Forest and West Ham making surprise moves this week and battling to win Miguel’s signature.
GE now provide a ‘behind the scenes’ on the matter, explaining how the negotiations have led to a change of agent for the player and ‘shock at Corinthians’.
They explain that the negotiations with Nottingham Forest and West Ham took Corinthians by surprise and have only increased a developing crisis at the Brazilian club.
The talks being held by the player were both turbulent and unexpected and that is because everything happened quickly thanks to a dispute between agents.
Miguel was managed by Gilmar Veloz, who has a longstanding relationship with Corinthians and manages Tite. He brokered the deal to take him to the club in 2021 and the reduction of a release clause in his deal to just €4m.
However, it was not him who opened talks with Nottingham Forest and West Ham but agent Giuliano Bertolucci, who started representing him last week and quickly found suitors.
Negotiations with interested parties lasted less than a week and he quickly convinced the goalkeeper that is was a good idea to move to the Premier League.
Kia Joorabchian has also been involving, representing Forest and quickly pushing them to the front of the queue. They are now in negotiations to pay his release clause.
The deal was practically done on Friday, with Miguel informing the Brazilian club he would be leaving. According to GE, he is unhappy with the current management and now wants out.
The bureaucratic procedures, such as the payment of the €4m release clause, should be completed in the next few days and all indications are that he will be joining Nottingham Forest over West Ham after a week of drama.
