Following Costel Pantilimon coming out to calm the situation around Radu Dragusin at Tottenham, his agent has also come out in defence of his client.
Florin Manea is a regular on Fanatik in Romania, who asked him about the fact the centre-back hasn’t been playing a lot since his arrival from Genoa in the January transfer window.
Relayed by Playsport, the agent was keen to give a bit of background information on Dragusin at Tottenham, with Ange Postecoglou biding his time and clearly planning for the long-term when it comes to the Romanian.
Manea said: “You have nothing to worry about, it’s normal. After this defeat (to Wolves), I hope he will get his chances. He couldn’t have knocked them all out. Romero is a world champions. Van de Ven played well.
“The idea is that when he comes in, he plays well and doesn’t leave. He works hard in training. It was noticed by the manager and his teammates. He’s training well.”
One of the big worries in Romania is a lack of game time for Dragusin, one of their new stars, ahead of the Euros this summer.
However, Manea isn’t overly worried about all this, reassuring everyone that his client will be fit and raring to go, with game time at Tottenham likely to head his way soon.
He added: “He will play enough game before the Euros to not be out of rhythm. He told me that the pace of play in England is much better than in Italy. He has no problems in training. He doesn’t feel there’s a big difference between him and the others. For me, it was normal that he didn’t play. There will be, I think, whole matches for him.”
So far, Dragusin has only been brought on at the very end of games by Ange Postecoglou for Tottenham, but the centre-back has remained on the bench for the entirety of the last two games.
As Manea said, perhaps the unexpected defeat to Wolves may change a few details in the manager’s plans for their next game.
