Fabio Silva has insisted reports he hid an injury before his move to Borussia Dortmund are wide of the mark.

Ruhr Nachrichten cover comments from the Portuguese striker today in which he hits back at media reports about his move from Wolves.

He joined Dortmund after making it clear he wanted to leave Molineux following years of various loans.

A deal was done but he’s yet to feature for Dortmund this season as he arrived with an injury that later required surgery.

Reports about the injury stated that it had come as something of a surprise to Dortmund. They had not been made aware of it beforehand despite the striker suffering it whilst on loan with Las Palmas.

All indications were the injury had been hidden by Silva and his entourage to force through the move. Dortmund ultimately decided to go through with it when it was revealed because it was so late in the window.

It seems Silva is well aware of those reports, and the former Wolves striker wants to shoot them down. Although he’s not entirely convincing with his defence.

Wolves exit not as portrayed in media says Fabio Silva

“The situation wasn’t as portrayed in the media,” he said.

“It’s true that is underwent surgery last season. But nothing was every deliberately concealed. I was a Wolverhampton player at the time of the operation. And together with those at the club and those around me, we decided at the time not to make any details about the injury or the procedure public.

“In my discussions with those in charge, it was all about showing them that I absolutely wanted to move to Dortmund. Despite other options and rumours. It was clear that I couldn’t play right away.

“When I came here, we drew up a clear plan and focused fully on rehab. The club, the medical department and I didn’t want to take any risks.”
