Real Madrid star Rodrygo is flirting with Manchester City about a potential move this summer, with his recent comments certainly not an accident.
That’s according to journalist Javier Tintó, who says recent reports linking Rodrygo with a move to Manchester City are not coincidental.
Rodrygo has found himself being linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, with the arrival of Endrick and Kylian Mbappe’s potential move adding further competition up front.
He even fuelled the flames by suggesting publically that he would be open to a move away if the club ever indicate to him that he is not an important player, insisting that the door to the Premier League would always be open for him.
That’s led to reports of various Premier League sides showing an interest, with journalist Fernando Burgos today naming the five teams who are keen.
“There are five teams that want Rodrygo: PSG, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool. Madrid does not want to get rid of the Brazilian,” he told Radio Estadio.
Of those teams, Liverpool are the ones to have been linked the most, while Manchester City have recently been brought into the mix amid reports that there could be another overhaul of the squad this summer.
The right-wing position is one that they may look at, with Riyad Mahrez not yet replaced and reports already linking them with a move for another Brazilian, Girona’s Savinho.
Rodrygo should be added to the list according to Tintó, who says the links are not coincidental at this point.
“Three days before the final, for Rodrygo to make these statements is juvenile, it is clumsy,” he told Radio Marca.
“Rodrygo is going to have a substitute for the first time, which is Endrick.
“Rodrygo is a player very much to the taste of Manchester City. Grealish can leave City and Bernardo too… there is nothing coincidental here. There is already a flirtation taking place with City.”
