Having failed in their attempts to sign Sven Botman from Lille, Newcastle are still searching for a new centre-back, with France their favourite hunting ground.
The latest player to be announced as being a target for the Magpies is Christopher Wooh, who has started to make his debuts for RC Lens in Ligue 1 this season after arriving on a free from AS Nancy in the summer.
The 20-year-old might not be a regular starter, but that hasn’t stopped clubs, ‘notably Newcastle’, from taking an interest in his services.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who remind their readers that the Premier League club have ‘very important means’ at their disposal.
Despite them, allegedly, being close to signing Diego Carlos from Sevilla, they are also ‘monitoring Wooh very closely’, even if the player is under contract at Lens until 2025.
The question they ask is whether Newcastle, if they do make a move, would want him in January or the summer?
That’s something we might have to wait and find out.
