Arkadiusz Milik to Everton has been a story building in the Italian media for a few days, with it first being claimed Napoli had offered the striker to Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

That was believable, the Serie A club are very keen to sell before the window closes, given Milik now has less than a year left on his contract. Potential moves to Juventus and AS Roma have fallen to pieces, and despite repeated links to Tottenham that move doesn’t seem imminent either.

Sunday saw claims that, after being offered the player, Everton had become ‘convinced’ to pay the €25m asking price. As we stated at the time, that was questionable because even if Toffees interest is genuine, they know Napoli are on the ropes.

Marcel Brands was able to hammer Allan’s asking price down, so it would make no sense to be so agreeable at this stage of the window.

Carlo Alvino, Sky Italia’s Napoli journalist, has now largely dismissed the potential move. He states it’s ‘not viable’ given Everton have options in attack, and Milik is ‘not a priority’ for Ancelotti.

That may change if Moise Kean leaves, with Juventus continually linked, but even Tuttosport now seem bored of that particular story.
