It’s been quite the week for Nottingham Forest getting a bruising relating to transfer interest in Eredivisie strikers.
First there’s Santiago Gimenez and a whole series of offers and effort which doesn’t seem to have got the Premier League club anywhere.
Then on Tuesday afternoon, claims emerged of Nottingham Forest having interest in Ajax’s Brian Brobbey. We covered the Dutch reaction to this and it largely felt like they were taking claims from elsewhere to make Ajax’s stance clear.
That stance was that the Amsterdam club could really do with a sale this week and would accept a good offer for Brobbey. In addition to that, it was explained they have Wout Weghorst waiting in the wings to join them anyway.
Well, that message, and this is regardless of whether Nottingham Forest interest is even existent, has made its way to Brobbey’s agent.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, who make it clear these comments are in relation to the Forest claims, quote Fortes Rodriguez as saying: “Brian will only leave Ajax if it is a good move. That Ajax is in financial trouble is not my problem. I’m not sending my player to just any club. They can forget all about that.”
De Telegraaf say Nottingham Forest haven’t done anything concrete, so they may be getting bloodied this time without even being genuinely keen.
