Last summer, Nottingham Forest signed Gonzalo Montiel from Sevilla on a loan deal with a purchase option.

Earlier this month, Vamos Mi Sevilla FC reported the La Liga side are worried Nottingham Forest may not keep him, especially if they were to be relegated from the Premier League.

La Colina de Nervión now state there’s the ‘danger’ of the 27-year-old returning to Sevilla after this season.

The right-back left the Spanish club with the intention of settling in at Nottingham Forest, which he hasn’t achieved so far.

He’s been restricted to 15 appearances and the majority of those came after Nuno Espírito Santo replaced Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest in December.

It’s said the buying option will become mandatory if the Argentina international were to play 50% of games this season. This is difficult to achieve, especially considering he hasn’t featured since suffering an injury in the FA Cup win over Bristol City in February.

Despite this, the report states ‘it’s not at all ruled out’ that Nottingham Forest will try to sign Montiel on another loan deal or buy him permanently in the summer.

That’s because the South American has shown Nuno Espírito Santo’s side he perfectly understands the Premier League style of play.

That’s is almost certainly conditional on them staying up.
