Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has opened up on his remaining concerns after he and his family were the victims of a burglary in April.
The Swedish forward has been speaking to Fotboll Skanalen today about the incident and how it remains ‘worrying’ for him and those closest to him.
The Newcastle star was the victim of a burglary in April, becoming the latest in a growing list of professional footballers who have been targeted in recent years.
Fortunately for him and his family nobody was home at the time and those who committed the crime were caught by police not long afterwards, with reports in the British press stating that the four people suspected of it had been linked to potential break ins elsewhere also.
The problem of footballers being targeted in England has been growing for years, with clubs and players having to go to ever increasing lengths of security measures to protect themselves.
In the meantime, victims of such incidents are left to deal with the consequences, and the Newcastle United star believes that whilst he’s over it, the situation is concerning.
“That’s right. It wasn’t very dramatic. I wasn’t home, nobody was home. It was boring of course. But those who did it were caught quite quickly afterwards,” he said.
“I feel good. It’s not a nice feeling but I was able to move on and let it go pretty quickly. It is a bit worrying that it happens so often.”
