While Manchester City constantly get linked with some of the biggest names in football, it’s the transfers that make sense you need to look out for.
One of those is Manuel Locatelli, who has long been linked with a move to the Etihad, to such an extent that even Sassuolo’s director of football admitted the Premier League leaders were interested.
With Juventus and Atlético Madrid also after the Italian midfielder, there is a potential bidding war in the making for the 23-year-old, who has three league goals and two assists to his name in 26 Serie A appearances this season.
Corriere dello Sport feature a big interview with Locatelli on Thursday, where they outright ask him if he’s ready for a bigger club.
Pushed further, he added he ‘has grown and is ready’, and when questioned about whether that could translate to a move abroad, he said: “Why not? Playing abroad for me is an option, and at the moment I’m not discounting anything. I don’t really like talking about transfers because that’s what my agents and the Sassuolo board take care of.
“I don’t know if it will be my last year here or what the future holds for me. If and when opportunities arrive, we’ll evaluate them all together”.
To us, that sounds very much like he would be open to a move to Manchester City should such a deal present itself.
Now it’s up to Pep Guardiola and co. to make the first step if they want him at the Etihad next season.
