FC Twente technical director Arnold Bruggink has told Tubantia that his side are keen on signing Rangers’ Sam Lammers. Philippe Clement’s side let him spend the second half of last season on loan at FC Utrecht, and his future at Ibrox still needs to be resolved.
The striker starred for Utrecht, scoring 11 goals and registering three assists from 20 games, and this hasn’t gone unnoticed, at least in the Eredivisie.
At the start of this month, we covered claims from the Dutch press that AZ Alkmaar are serious about the Rangers player, and have held talks to sign him.
On Wednesday, TuttoMercatoWeb reported the 27-year-old is a step away from leaving Rangers for Twente.
Later that day, the Dutch club played a friendly against Schalke, and this allowed Tubantia to ask Bruggink about the latest claims of Twente’s interest in Lammers. When responding to that, he confirmed his side want to sign the Rangers man.
“I am not going to deny it, we are working on him. But we are still a long way from that,” he said.
Twente currently have Ricky van Wolfswinkel as the only recognised striker in the squad, and have prioritised strengthening the same position in this window. They want to sign Lammers, who seems to be left out of Philippe Clement’s plans at Rangers.
