Brighton’s reported target Victor Froholdt has ruled out any chance of leaving FC Porto soon. The 19-year-old midfielder spoke to CM Jornal and made it clear that he is fully focused on the Portuguese club. He said he is “incredibly happy” in Porto and wants to keep competing for titles.

“Not even thinking about it. I’m incredibly happy to be part of FC Porto and the city, and I feel the fans’ support. I had a fantastic reception and I’m grateful for that,” Froholdt told the Portuguese outlet when asked about interest from Brighton and also Atlético Madrid..

His comments arrive after weeks of attention surrounding his standout performances in the Primeira Liga. Froholdt joined Porto for around £17m (€20m) and quickly became one of the team’s key players.

The Danish midfielder has impressed with his energy, positioning and decision-making, helping Francesco Farioli’s side stay competitive in both the league and the Europa League.

Froholdt’s form has also earned him recognition on the international stage. He recently scored his first goal for Denmark in a match against Belarus, further confirming his rise in European football.

Brighton’s interest fits their recruitment model, focused on young talents with high potential and strong resale value.

Still, the midfielder insists his focus is entirely on Porto. “I’ll do everything I can to fight for the championship in Portugal and also hope to perform well in the Europa League. A transfer is something that’s very far in the future. My focus is on giving my best in every match I play,” he said.

Froholdt’s contract runs until June 2030 and includes an £72m (€85m) release clause. That figure makes any January transfer extremely unlikely.

For now, Brighton will have to keep watching from afar, as the young Dane continues to grow into one of Porto’s most exciting players and a fan favourite at the Estádio do Dragão.
