Earlier today we covered a report from Catalan newspaper Sport which explained it’s only ‘logical’ that Barcelona accept Tottenham’s €5m offer for Clement Lenglet.
The Blaugrana need to get the Frenchman’s wages off their accounts, and are therefore willing to accept a lower fee than they otherwise would have.
Over at Mundo Deportivo, another Catalan newspaper, they have things differently and don’t sound so confident about a move to Spurs being imminent.
Mundo say that the move to Tottenham is ‘not even close’, which goes against some of what is being said elsewhere.
They add that the defender is due back on Monday and if nothing is sorted out by July 19th, it presents a fresh problem. He won’t be taken on tour with Barcelona because he’s not in Xavi Hernandez’s plans, and would instead be left in Spain to train with club staff.
The sticking issue may be over wages he’s owed from reductions agreed during the peak Covid period, although Mundo don’t mention that.
