Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva is currently enjoying life at PSV Eindhoven after joining them on loan in the winter market.
The forward, who struggled at the Premier League side, went out on loan to Anderlecht last summer. He managed 11 goals and four assists from 27 matches in all competitions but still decided to leave the Belgian club in January.
Wolves then let the 20-year-old join the Dutch club last month and he’s managed three goals and an assist from seven games. His last goal came in PSV’s 3-1 win over FC Twente at the weekend and after the tie, he had a chat with Voetbal International.
“Of course, the pressure to win is there with us. We play for the prizes, but I like that pressure, that’s good. It’s very simple; we have to get better every game and keep up the competition. At least we’re on the right track now,” he said.
Wolves paid €40m to FC Porto for Silva in 2020, after he made only 21 appearances for the Dragons’ first team.
When quizzed if the price tag has been a concern, Silva explained: “No, it’s not a burden. It’s not easy, but it hasn’t changed me. Young players simply go for high amounts these days.
“I just focus on playing football. I have always worked hard and I will continue to do so. I now focus on PSV, on winning prizes here. After all, there is still much room for improvement in my game.”
