Brighton & Hove Albion were looking to bring in a new forward in the last window to bolster their attacking division.

The Seagulls had their sights on CFR Cluj’s Abdel Slem Billel Omrani, who has 13 goals and four assists in 38 matches played in all competition this season.

Romanian newspaper Pro Sport have gathered comments made by the 26-year-old, in which he spoke about his time at Marseille, relationship with Marcelo Bielsa and about his future at Cluj beyond this season.

With regards to his future, he said: “I will give everything until the end of the championship and afterwards we will see what happens.”

Pro Sport then state two clubs from England were interested in the attacker in January, with Graham Potter’s side being one.

It’s claimed Brighton submitted a bid of €3.5m for Omrani, but the Premier League side’s proposal was €1m short of what Cluj demanded for the player.

It was at this moment negotiations stopped between the two clubs and Omrani was ‘not at all pleased’ that Cluj didn’t allow him to leave for Brighton.
