Manchester United’s desperation to get rid of Marcus Rashford this summer is putting Barcelona off moving for him at present.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say that Rashford is very much Plan B for Barcelona in case they cannot get Luis Díaz.

According to the newspaper, the Colombian is the preferred choice out of the two but due to various circumstances, his signing from Liverpool is becoming complicated.

Because of that they are keeping the Manchester United outcast on the back burner for the time being. His situation at Manchester United, where he has been told to leave, and the fact the player is prioritising Barcelona, works in their favour.

He represents a simpler signing that Díaz but are wary because of Manchester United’s stance. They believe it is ‘not a good sign’ how public the club have been about getting rid of him this summer.

While there is a belief they can get Rashford back to his best, there is now denying his seasons of inconsistencies have overshadowed his image and the fact Manchester United don’t want to rebuild him themselves is concerning to Barcelona.

Rashford has been pushing the move, alongside his entourage. They’ve promised the forward is fully concentrating on his career and returning to the highest level. He’s convinced of the move.

But Barcelona will only move if the deal is advantageous to them. That would mean Rashford reducing his ‘stratospheric’ wages. They’ve been told by his agents that wouldn’t be an issue.

Manchester United want €40m for a transfer, which is another issue. Barcelona would want to reduce that too. Across the board, they seem unconvinced, leaving Rashford as a last-minute option if they can’t get Díaz, wary of the reports surrounding the Manchester United man.
