Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul has admitted that he is in contact with representatives of the Netherlands, as he eyes a return to the international team.
The goalkeeper put in a star performance for Norwich in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, saving two penalties to keep the scoreline relatively respectful.
It was another reliable performance from the Dutch keeper, who has been one of the Canaries better performers in a difficult return to the Premier League.
That’s a continuation of the fine form Krul showed last season, with him playing a pivotal role in Norwich’s promotion from the Championship.
So far his performances have not earned him a return to the national side, with Ronald Koeman preferring Jasper Cillessen, Kenneth Vermeer and Marco Bizot.
Krul, who made his international debut in 2011 and whose last appearance came four years ago in a 2-1 win over Kazakhstan, hasn’t given up on returning.
“They are watching me,” he told Ziggo’s Peptalk, relayed by AD.
“There is more contact. They are happy to play at the highest level again.
“I just have to keep doing this and be important to my team. Then hopefully the Dutch team will come again.”
