The project is a reason that most footballers will cite when it comes to explaining a move these days and Ibrahim Amadou is no different.

The defensive player swapped Sevilla for Norwich City this summer, joining the Premier League side on loan for the campaign.

He departed the La Liga side after they made it clear he was not part of their plans, with Director of Football Monchi returning to the club and overseeing a vast overhaul of the playing squad.

Amadou jumped at the chance to play in the Premier League, not hesitating to join a side who were newly promoted to the top-flight.

He says that’s because he liked the ‘project’ the Canaries put forward, while it also fulfilled his dreams.

“It is a very young team that plays with a lot of quality,” he told Estadio Deportivo.

“As a child, I dreamed of playing in the Premier League. I’m glad to be part of this league.

“At Norwich, my goal is to play the biggest amount of minutes possible and help the team achieve its goal that is to stay in the Premier League.”

Amadou has made an immediate impact at Carrow Road, featuring in four of their seven Premier League games to date as well as playing 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup.

He’s already had a thorough taste of the unpredictability of the English top-flight too, having seen the Canaries beaten by the likes of Burnley and Crystal Palace but also defeat champions Manchester City.

That win over Pep Guardiola’s side is the result of the season so far, and Amadou was as impressed as the rest of us.

“The match against City was incredible,” he added.

“A team like Norwich, winning against the champion is something historic. The Premier League is very competitive, very different from the Spanish league. But I like it a lot too.”
