Leeds United’s Joël Piroe has failed to score or contribute an assist after 12 matches in all competitions this season. The striker played just 13 minutes in the league over the past two months.
On January 9th, Piroe said he’s desperate for Daniel Farke to offer him more minutes but talked down a move in the winter market. His attitude towards his club, manager and teammates sounded first rate, and certainly not like a player agitating for an exit.
Last week, Voetbal International reported the Leeds United player had already rejected five Championship clubs.
Two days ago, Dutch journalist Joost Blauwhof reported Ipswich Town have made an offer to take him away from Elland Road permanently. Blauwhof added a move late in the window would depend on the 26-year-old.
Quickly after that, claims from the UK dragged FC Twente into the mix. The Eredivisie side were said to be looking to sign the Whites player either on loan or via a permanent transfer. However, it appears FC Twente themselves aren’t aware of this, and the claims are not based reality.
Leeds United player won’t be signed
Twente Fans, a website covering news about the Dutch club, provides the Eredivisie side’s take. Journalist Tijmen van Wissing covers Twente and has dismissed a move to the Dutch club.
In fact, Van Wissing insists Twente aren’t looking to sign a new striker before the window closes on Monday.
“Incidentally, there will be no new striker joining FC Twente this winter window,” he said, ruling out such an arrival.
Piroe is set to continue working hard and hoping for opportunities at Leeds United.
Farke has favoured Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of Piroe to lead his side’s attack this season. The decision has paid off as the former Everton player has nine goals and an assist from 21 league matches.
